The UpsideDown Bar is located in the basement of St Andrews Court Shopping Arcade, which was once home to Bergeracs.
And it was where the Oasis-themed bar Definitely Maybe started out, which has now moved to Nelson Square.
Definitely Maybe relaunched in December 2022 after moving to a bigger site.
Owner Sinclair Little opened UpsideDown Bar with his partner Rebecca Smith after having managed Definitely Maybe.
The bar boasts stylish décor, booths, and bar stools.
He said: “The opportunity came up when the Definitely Maybe Bar moved, and the owners wanted someone to take it on who would put their effort and love into it.
“It could be a horrible hole in the ground that’s just left otherwise, and the previous owners wanted it to go to someone who cares for the place.
“It’s a great feeling to see all the work me and my partner Rebecca have put into this and seeing it come to life.”
Sinclair started out his career as a glass collector in nightclubs, then moving on to the bar, before later becoming a supervisor and then manager at the well-known Bolton club.
Sinclair has around six years under his belt and is hoping that this is the start of something positive for Bolton town centre.
He added: “We want this to be a safe space for people to have a good night and feel comfortable.
“We want it to be a place where people who are celebrating and enjoying themselves are doing the same thing as everyone else in the bar.
“Our staff will look after people because we don’t want people to feel worried going on a night out.”
It may be somewhere easily missed, but it is definitely a hidden gem with lots of variety to offer the town centre.
Once downstairs the bar is split into a chilled zone area for those wanting to have a chat with their friends and another area with a stage for those wanting to have a dance and enjoy live entertainment.
Sinclair added: “We want to be something different and will run different themes and play it by ear and see what the community enjoy.
“There will be a lot of testing the waters for now to see what works.
“We believe in what we have done, and we have worked really hard on the bar and we hope people love it as much as we love it.”
The bar is open Friday-Saturday from 8pm until 4.30am, although it may start opening more often depending on feedback.
