Rod Stewart forced to cancel show at the last minute due to mystery illness

SIR Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel a show at the last minute due to a mystery illness.

The 78-year-old music legend posted the bad news on Instagram six hours before he was meant to appear on stage.

He shared a broken-heart emoji along with a statement from the promoters of his Australian shows, explaining it was being cancelled due to “illness”.

Rod was due to appear alongside American singer Cyndi Lauper and Aussie Jon Stevens, but it’s not clear which of them is unwell.

The announcement read: “Live Nation and Roundhouse Entertainment regret to announce that tonight’s performance by Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens at Mt. Duneed Estate, Geelong will not go ahead due to illness.

‘We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience for ticket holders.

“A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week.”

Fans replied to the star’s post with their best wishes. One wrote: “I hope you’re alright Rod! Rest well!”

The singer – famous for songs including Handbags and Gladrags and Have I Told You Lately – is currently on an intensive world tour.

Rod has been taking his The Hits tour all over Australia this month.

He is then set to move over to New Zealand before a date in Mexico and seven nights at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in May.

The tour then moves to first Ireland then the UK in June and July.

Dates include Plymouth’s Home Park, the Cinch Stadium in Northampton and Edinburgh Castle.
