Fareham residents warned after reports of rogue traders

Police in Fareham say they received a number of reports of doorstep scammers this week.

Now the force has issued advice to those living in the area to help them spot fraudulent salespeople.

In a social media post, it said residents should not agree to any work or sign anything on the spot.

Police also say you shouldn’t pay cash up front or go to the bank or cashpoint with a trader.

Other tips included discussing any work you feel needs carrying out with a friend or relative who can help find a reputable trader and always checking the credentials of unknown callers.
